In the ASHRAE Journal (July 2017 edition) the \u201cVentilation Requirements for Natatoriums\u201d article highlights an alternate method for calculating ventilation rates. This method aligns with the design approach that XeteX follows for these types of applications. The XeteX design dehumidifies indoor pool and waterpark spaces using large amounts of outdoor air. This approach delivers greater swimmer and spectator comfort, improves air quality and minimizes corrosion by removing greater amounts of chloramines from the space. The use of outdoor air as the primary form of dehumidification also dramatically reduces the annual hours where mechanical dehumidification is required, lowering the operating costs of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>This month our highlighted unit shows some of the design considerations we take when designing units for natatorium applications. Due to the climate design conditions (Colorado) and how the unit was designed, it did not require mechanical cooling. The unit features XeteX\u2019s aluminum flat plate heat exchanger with an epoxy coating to protect the exchanger from the corrosive air properties of the natatorium environment.
